REAGEO – Geotechnical Institute for the rehabilitation of the hillside-plain system (Brazil)

http://www.inct-reageo.ufrj.br/index.html

The REAGEO Institute is a network of researchers dealing with the geotechnical aspects associated with hillsides and plains in Brasil. The project team is formed of researchers specialized in the theme and with great experience in the area. They are full time professionals from COPPE-UFRJ, the Institute of Geo-Sciences – UFRJ, PUC-Rio, UERJ, UFPE, UFRGS and UNB, with very wide-ranging experience in the geotechnics of hillsides and plains, soil and rock properties, geology, geomorphology and hydrology.

About the Institute
The Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience operates through a growing array of research projects and externally-funded fellowships.  It is involved in policy engagement in risk and hazard debates across much of the globe, strategy development with industry and wider stakeholders as well as research consultancy.  Our research aims to improve human responses to both age-old hazards such as volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides and floods as well as the new and uncertain risks of climate change, surveillance, terror, banking and emerging technologies.  It also focuses particularly on the nature of hazard, risk and vulnerability in the developing world.

The Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience Blog
http://ihrrblog.org/
This blog will report on all research happening at IHRR in risk, resilience and hazards, such as landslides, earthquakes and volcanoes, along with security, ecological impacts of climate change and much more.  It will also include relevant news, topics, essays and online resources for communicating and studying different kinds of hazards and risks in society.

The International Landslide Centre

The International Landslide Centre at Durham University is housed within the Department of Geography, and is a part of the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience.  Founded in 2002, the ILC seeks to play a leading role in reducing the impact of landslides worldwide, with a particular focus on mountainous areas in less developed countries.
